About

This website is an initiaitive of Oxford Research Group (ORG) and represents one part of a larger programme, "Moving towards sustainable security" begun in 2006. The project has involved publications, consultations in different parts of the world, and a series of publications.

SustainableSecurity.org intends to be an important platform for promoting a better understanding of the real threats to global security in the 21st century and the policies that should be implemented to address those threats at their root cause.

The webiste is organised to highlight four interconnected drivers of global insecurity:

Climate Change

Competition over natural resources

Global militarism

Poverty and marginalisation

Articles and resources are allocated to one or more of these headings, but the overall emphasis is on the interconnected nature of these threats and the need for comprehensive, multilateral approaches to them.

Governments alone can not be relied on to embrace sustainable security; therefore community groups, faith groups, NGO's, and many other elements of civil society (including journalists) must coordinate their efforts to promote such policies. We would welcome for consideration, contributions from anyone with a desire to build on the sustainable security analysis and to promote solutions to the real threats to global security.

The editorial policy for the site is overseen by the project Advisory Group and implemented by the site Editor and Associate Editors.
